Batman Arkham Asylum…worth 9/10?

The blog RamRaider recently posted a story about Eidos demanding a score of at least 9/10 for its upcoming Batman Arkham Asylum release, and the cover dedicated to the game, if that magazine wanted to break the review embargo.
Eidos have moved quickly to distance themselves from this rumour, with the following statement being released from Jon Brooke, the UK marketing manager of Eidos:
“With regards an article posted on RamRaider alleging that Eidos has fixed review scores for Batman: Arkham Asylum, we want to state that no discussions have been held about review scores with any magazines. In short there is simply not one shred of truth in this article, except for the title of the game.”
We at Totally have certainly never been asked to give a score to a game in order to publish a review and neither would we do so. In fact in my four years in the industry I have never been asked to give a game a favourable score, nor witnessed this, for whatever publication I am writing for.
Breaking such a bombshell must do wonders for a site in terms of hits but, while we may never know the truth, unless RamRaider can back up its claims with some evidence, rather than just conjecture, we’re taking this ‘news’ with a very big pinch of salt.
We’ll see for ourselves whether Batman is worth a nine when we get our review code.
