Rayman Legends No Longer A Wii U Exclusive

Rayman Legends No Longer A Wii U Exclusive

Earlier today Ubisoft gave us an update on Rayman Legends and none of it is good, especially for Nintendo.  For starters, Rayman Legends is no longer a Wii U exclusive.  It will be appearing on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as well.  I’m not quite sure how the controls of Rayman Legends will transfer over to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 so that should be interesting.

Ubisoft is really testing the patience of fans who have been anxiously awaiting the sequel to Rayman Origins.  Originally scheduled to be released in November 2012 as a Wii U launch title it was revealed that the game had suffered a setback and would be pushed into late February.  It was annoying but fans generally understood and generally speaking the more development time a game has the better it should turn out.  Now here we are today in February and Ubisoft has dropped another bombshell on us.  Not only is the game coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but it is also now delayed until September.  Assuming the game doesn’t suffer any other delays it will have been delayed ten months by the time it hits store shelves.

“We heard from many Xbox and Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system,” said Ubisoft’s European chief marketing & sales officer Geoffroy Sardin. “We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game.”

What do you think about this announcement?  Will you still pick the game up for Wii U or will you pick it up for the Xbox 360 or PS3?  Tell us in the comments below.
